Leave GMA alone, you faggots

(cross-posted at PEX. I know, I know, but I couldn't just sit)

You anti-GMA people are too idealistic but hopelessly unrealistic. The problem with you is that you think democracy is the be-all and end-all of everything. However, that's not the case. Yes, it's great to harp about freedom and honesty, but why are the values there in the first place? No, not because mother nature said it so, but because it's for the good of the citizens. (i.e.,so that there will be no prevalent backstabbing, abuse or what have you)

So, you see, values are MERELY derived; they are not absolute truths. The primary basis is whether this certain action would promote the good of the people (and not unjustly hurt others who are involved). Though these two are usually hand-in-hand, they are still distinct from each other; VALUES ARE SECONDARY.

Now, we have a dilemma: should we choose economic advancement and stability (hey, we have the peso faring well well well two weeks ago) or should we still cling on the value of honesty? Should we allow a dishonest (fuck. who isn't? frigging hypocrites) yet effective leader to govern our country or should we not, because our rights are so precious and that it doesn't even matter if the whole country is hopelessly falling apart (you ask me why? BECAUSE WE HAVE THE RIGHT!)? In short, should we choose something that would benefit the country more or our values?

Given my argument above, we should, of course, choose the former.

People would object: but what message would we send to the future generations? Well, it's definitely not that it's all right to cheat just to get whatever one wants (though it may be interpreted that way). We're telling them that it's all right to sacrifice (the anyway arbitrary) values for the good of the people. We're telling them that what comes first is the welfare of others, and not some concept that is falsely perceived to be sacred. (Actually, if everyone would think this way, then the world would be much much happier place. :p)

So, be realistic, everyone. Values are relative; don't cling to it desperately.

(notes:
1. I know there isn't any clear-cut definition to "what is good for the people", but heck, we can approximate. We are looking for generalities here, not laws.)

GMA til 2010!

Nothing good ever happens to me

But when I say "good", I mean something wonderful that I didn't see coming and/or is supposedly beyond my capabilities. Say, winning the Lotto or getting into Yale.

On the second thought, maybe there was. I didn't believe it at first; however, slowly, I allowed myself to.

But I guess that does not count, since nothing had ever come out of it.

Random Limewire rants

1. I don't give a fig about sponsored results!

2. Rippers should understand that 128bitrate is ENOUGH. 196 is fine. 320 is a HUGE, HUGE waste. I don't need to differentiate every fucking note of each fucking instrument.

3. Tell me, who ACTUALLY uses .m4a format? Use this if your ripper is backward and wouldn't allow .mp3!

4. Why does Limewire abort whenever I download (or even just search) for The Yellow Monkey mp3s? They're awesome!

5. For God's sake people, romanize the song titles. I can only read Hiragana. And Windows does not even recognize the fonts -- all I see are squares.

6. DIE YOU UPLOADERS, DIE!

7. How can you exist in the world of Limewire with a Modem? Unimaginable!

8. This is not Purple Sky! This is not Mr. Children! W(hy)TF does the filename say so?

9. Limewire should add the "does not contain the word" field in their search feature. Now that I actually searched for a Filipino band, all you gave me is Van Halen!

10. Righhhhtttt. I can browse the people I download from yet cannot peek at those who download from me? INJUSTICE.

11. Have some sense of gratitude, people. What is $18.00 to you? Why do you still have to rip Limewire Pro? It's one thing to pirate, but pirating the software that allowed you to pirate is just, well, shit.

Bit by bit,

the activist in me is awakening.

But.... nah.

I have a joke*

What do you call a proponent of the many-worlds interpretation?

Answer: Evolutionist.

*And it is truly mine.

I'm straying

This blog is supposedly for random thoughts that have barely anything to do with my life. Lately though, I felt like straying. Actually, I already did. So if in the next days you (who?) read (seriously?) posts that are vague but do not sound like hopeless Physics, remember this entry. Then, nod in complete understanding.

Good dawn.

The Brilliant Green

Even if the band name is an oxymoron (for how can something green ever be brilliant?), The Brilliant Green is truly brilliant. For their music of course and not for their being green, for that is an impossibility.

Well, actually, I do. What I wonder about is why I'm reacting in this manner.

I hope I do not regret this.

Woohoo

I have found 107/109 of the tracks in Siam Shade's "The Perfect Collection", from just 74 over the weekend.

I've actually found a .m4a " 時代だとか流行だとかよく解んねぇけど要はカッコ良けりゃそれでいいんじゃねぇの", but the host disappeared before I could download. Meanwhile, I haven't seen the shadow of "THE 武道".

And, mind you, it's not easy to just get these mp3s. Usually, only one host provide the songs, so I have to worry about them disappearing suddenly.

Someday, though... someday...

All right,

I'm pissed.

Ha. Ha. Ha.

I was battling in my mind what to do tomorrow. (YES! YES! It's a legitimate tomorrow!) I weighed in the usual pros and cons, but still couldn't decide. I was thinking of just deciding on impulse, when the moment arrives, when one compelling, irrefutable and nothing short of wonderful argument popped-in:

"Well, that's a 6-hour trip. Roundtrip even, so that's 12 hours. Too long. I might meet an accident along the way."

Damn. I'm so rational.

All right, I'm squealing now

I have just been reunited with the great United N-Generation and their MV "Waves." *sigh* It has been such a long time. God bless youtube and its users.

With youtube, I have:

1. found dance steps of Atlantis Princess, the best dance video EVER
2. seen with my own eyes the greatness of Siam Shade. (Hideki, why didn't you wait for me?)
3. seen a not-so-nice version of Bi/Rain's "Instead of Saying Goodbye"
4. seen a link that leads directly to... SM Town's Jingle Bells! (i am yet to watch it)

What I have not yet seen:
1. a decent video of Instead of Saying Goodbye
2. that wonderful Let's and Go song
3. NHK's Shinsengumi

So long.

Peercast

I've been peercasting for hours now. There are no good Japanese stations. The best I could find only plays wussy and female-with-a-terribly-cute-ish-voice-sang Jpop songs. Nothing from L'arc, AKFG, Orange Range or what have you.

There's isn't even Kpop.

I wonder

Has anyone died because of deliberately not breathing? I mean, where all conditions (like oxygen abundance) are normal. Is this possible? Or would the body do something to prevent the death?

Hmmm... on the second thought, I think it's impossible. Lack of oxygen would cause unconsciousness. If one is unconscious, then the body would resume its usual respiratory activities.

Amusement

1. "The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new discoveries, is not 'Eureka!' (I found it!) but 'That's funny...'" --- Isaac Asimov

2. How many relativity scientists does it take to replace a light bulb?
Two. One holds the bulb while the other one rotates the universe

3. "The seminar on Time Travel will be held two weeks ago."

4. A passenger on a train walks up to Einstein and says "Excuse me sir, but does New York stop at this train?"

5. An eccentric physics professor is well known throughout campus for having strange tests which often border on the philosophical.

An ill-prepared student goes in for his final exam with this professor, racking his brain to keep all his formulas straight. He sits down, and the professor walks in to start the exam. Grinning, he sets a chair on his desk and writes the exam's only question on the board: "Prove that this chair does not exist." The student groans and drops his pencil, realizing that he hasn't any clue how to solve this problem. Deciding that if he's going to fail, he'll do so with style, the student writes two words on his paper, turns it in, and gets the highest grade in the class.
What were his two words?

"What chair?"

6. Proposition: all odd numbers are prime.

The liberal: Don't say 'odd', say 'even challenged'. We feel that all numbers are equally prime.

The optimist: 3 is prime, 5 is prime, 7 is prime, 11 is prime. Yes, all the odd numbers are prime.

The bigot: 3 is prime. Yes, all the odd numbers are prime.

The computer programmer: 3 is prime, 5 is prime, 7 is prime, 7 is prime, 7 is prime, 7 is prime, ...

The Zen buddhist: 4 is not prime, 6 is not prime, 8 is not prime, 10 is not prime. Yes, all the odd numbers are prime.

The theologian: Yes, all the odd numbers are prime.
